How this is tested.
① World servers — WoW realm servers are server-first: on a
bare TCP connect they send WORLD OF WARCRAFT CONNECTION…
before any login. So we test the real game servers directly, no auth.
When the beta goes down, these stop greeting — the true external
down-signal. (World IPs rotate per session; the probe set is refreshed
from each login capture.)
② Login server (actual.battle.net:1119) — verified TLS
+ BGS app-layer reaction.
The one thing still invisible from outside is a personal queue or
"no server available" placement when the servers themselves are up — for
that, the live sentinel or a player report is authoritative,
so the headline prefers them.
